Lee
Lee Roy Selmon's story combines football scholarship for his family as well as service in the local community. The first is his relatives. Lucious Selmon was the father of Jessie Selmon. He and his wife raised nine children on an Eufala farm. He played second in football and was one of three brothers who played for Oklahoma. All three of them were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy won the Outland and Lombardi Awards as the nation's best lineman. Over the course of three seasons, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy as the starter. Also, they won 2 national titles. The National Football Foundation named him a Scholar-Athlete for the third time in the year 1975. Selmon has a bachelor's degree in educational studies. Lee Roy spent ten hours every week in volunteer work in his college days. Following college, he moved to Tampa playing nine years for the Buccaneers were the all-pro 3 times, and began his business career. In 1988, as an account representative at First Florida Bank of Tampa He was a member of the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. This is why The Junior Chamber of Commerce designated Lee Roy as one of the top 10 young men across the nation. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in size and weighed in at 256 pounds in his college days. He played for the team of 1975. In 1993 he joined his current position at University of South Florida as the associate director of athletics. In 1988, Selmon was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. In addition, he was inducted into an appearance in the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented their Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor who presented this award.
